December Horsey Update

Just a quick update on the horsey front;

Illumination has found himself a new home, and we wish his new owner all the best with this handsome man. Lui will be campaigned in hand and under saddle in 2010.

About a month ago Jester joined us, fresh off the race track. I am looking forward to having some fun with both Jester & Nikita under saddle in the New Year.

19-21 November - Its SPRING FAIR Time

The end of November has arrived and with it the Dogs NSW Spring Fair.

This year saw extreme heat conditions with the temperature reaching over 40 degrees all three days of the show. Our furkids were thankful to be kept cool with cool coats & fans.

We only attended the Saturday & Sunday shows this year, as our only entry for the Friday show, Flirt, had injured herself the weekend before and is now sporting 3 stitches in her foot.

Freya did well despite the heat placing 2nd in her class of 5 both days.

Karma was Minor Puppy of Breed both days, and was also shortlisted for Minor In Group on Saturday.
The judge Mr I Selmovic (Croatia) later commented that she was “a very promising puppy with a nice balanced shape, good angles front & back, lovely head and dark eye. She is still a little uncoordinated on the move, which is what let her down on the day.”

It was a great chance to catch up with Helen (Tukeglen) and Hollie & Ben (Zensu) and we congratulate them on their success over the weekend.

31st Oct & 1st Nov - HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!

Showing in Sydney an under International judging panel, Halloween proved to be quite an exciting weekend for us all here at Aspyre.

Saturday - Liverpool & District All Breed Kennel Club

Freya - 1st Junior Bitch & JUNIOR OF BREED
Judge - Mr John Stanton (NZ)

Flirt - 1st Minor Bitch, Minor Puppy of Breed & * BEST MINOR PUPPY IN GROUP*
Karma - 2nd Minor Puppy Bitch
Judge - Mr S Sim (Phillipines)

In General Specials (despite the soaring heat of 34degrees!) Flirt showed her little socks off, and the judge, Mr C Francis (Canada) took notice - awarding her ** BEST MINOR PUPPY IN SHOW **

Sunday - County of Cumberland Kennel Club

With our team less member, as Karma was withdrawn as a result of the extreme weather, it was up to Freya & Flirt to bring home the ribbons.

Freya - 2nd Junior Bitch
Judge - Mrs S Francis (Canada)

Flirt - 1st Minor Bitch ** BITCH CHALLENGE (11pts)& RUNNER UP BEST OF BREED (11 entries)**
Judge - Mr H Tast (Finland)

It is not often that a European judge will even look towards a Minor Puppy for Challenge let alone award it to them!! Needless to say we were extremely proud of our little girl.

We thank Mr Tast for his extremely kind and encourging comments about Flirt. We think she is a star in the making too

24th October - Fugue goes BISS

HUGE Congratulations to Karen Sillince (Tomlow Pointers - UK) for taking out

BEST IN SHOW with TOMLOW NIGHT AND DAY (aka Fugue)
at the Pointer Club Open Show with and entry of 90 Pointers!!

Fugue is of course the mother to our lovely Karma (Tomlow Aspyreations - Imp UK).

It was at the same show last year that Fugue's handsome father, Fado aka Sh Ch Tomlow Brief Encounter was also BEST IN SHOW!!

Karma's family are certainly having a great run in the UK over the past few months with her father Darcy aka Hawkfield Dapper In Black JW, taking out RUNNER UP BEST IN SHOW at the Southern Pointer Club Championship Show with an entry of over 170 Pointers!!!

Several of her siblings have also recently stepped into the ring for the first time, and have alreday qualified for CRUFTS 2010!!

Well Done to Karen & Wendy (Hawkfield) and all the other owners for some super results!!

24-25th October - Kite's Soaring

Some more fantastic results from Aspyre With Flyin Colours (Kite) & Ashley Barber.

Kite took out TWO more BEST OF BREEDS and now is 1/3 of the way to her Australian Title at only 7 1/2 months of age!!

WELL DONE girls keep up the good work!!

Karma had a very different weekend hitting the ring down South with Aunty Lynne
It was great to have Lynne back in the ring (finally) after such a long break, and we are glad that they both enjoyed their weekend, which was split between the show and the beach... lucky girls!!
* Thanks Lynne for taking such good care of our British Babe *

_________________________________________

While up North, Kite & Ashley had a super day at Hillsborough, taking out BEST OF BREED & BEST MINOR PUPPY IN GROUP!!! Way to go girls!!!

3rd October - Bribbaree Show

Another nice weekend away, despite the wind... it was great to catch up with Lynne after our trip and it was a great excuse to go and pay a visit to Bruno & Colleen Pollini (Montenero Pointers) on the way home. HUGE Thanks for your wonderful hospitality!!

1 x BITCH CHALLENGE & RUNNER UP BEST OF BREED (4 entries)
1 x Reserve Bitch Challenge

HUGE Congrats to Ashleigh & Kite on getting the FIRST Challenge Certificate for ASPYRE!!

5th September - Flag's still 'Flyin'

Even in our absence it was great to hear that Kite & Winston were still out and about making us proud. With some nice Baby of Breed wins and placings/ shortlistings in Baby Puppy Stakes.

Congrats to our extended family and keep up the good work!!

22nd August - Norwest Kennel Club

Today was our last show for a few weeks as we are off to the USA at the beginning of September. It was nice to have such a lovely 'relaxing' day, only having the two babies and the boxer to show.

Freya - Bitch Challenge & Runner Up Best of Breed
Judge - Mr R Curtis (NSW)

Flirt - 1st Baby Puppy Bitch & BEST BABY PUPPY IN GROUP!!
Karma - 2nd Baby Puppy Bitch
Judge - Mrs K Harris (NSW)

16th August - NSW Gundog Championship Show

Today certainly marked a change in the seasons with glorious sunshine streaming down over the showgrounds.

It was great to be able to see three of our 'flyin' babies in the ring together, alongside our newest Aussie, Karma.

With 5 baby pointers in the Puppy Stakes class it was a lovely sight and we were extremely happy when Winston took out 1st place!! CONGRATULATIONS!!!

Then onto breed classes... with well known Pointer Specialist Paul Robinson (Robwyn NZ)

Winston - 1st Baby Puppy Dog & BABY OF BREED!!

The baby bitch class was closely contested by our girls, with Paul finding it a tough decision between Karma & Flirt. Originally placing Karma in 1st, she decided in the last few strides that she did not want to move, and gave Flirt the chance to steal her ribbon.... better luck next time James

Flirt - 1st Baby Puppy Bitch
Karma - 2nd Baby Puppy Bitch
Kite - 3rd Baby Puppy Bitch

We were unable to show Morgan today, as Paul bred her, but she came along to have a go at the Working Gundog test... which we unfortunately missed as it clashed with the others going into the ring... never mind she had a wonderful day out.

After the show it was nice to catch up with Paul & Carolyn, and chat about what else... pointers.

15th August - BABY IN SHOW FOR ASPYRE!!!

We are very proud to say that
Winston (Aspyre Flyin Without Wings) has become our first BABY IN SHOW winner today!!

Winston had a stellar day, notching up
1 x BABY IN SHOW
2 x Best Baby in Group
1 x 1st 3-6mth All Breeds Puppy Stakes
1 x 3rd 3-6mth All Breeds Puppy Stakes

Congratulations to Karen & James!!
Well done we can hardly wait to see what he can do next!!

9th August - Mudgee & District Kennel Club

After a long and very cold night (it got to -4degrees!!) but thankfully the day turned out to be much warmer.

We were there in time for the sweepstakes, and today Karma & Flirt joined Kite in the ring. The judge said that it was a hard decision between Flirt & Karma, but in the end Flirt was better behaved and came home with 2nd in the 3 - 6 month Sweepstakes and a commemorative trophy!!

Gundogs were judged before Utility by Mr W Godfrey (SA)

Flirt - 1st Baby Puppy Bitch & BABY OF BREED!!
Kite - 2nd Baby Puppy Bitch
Karma - 3rd Baby Puppy Bitch
Morgan - Reserve Bitch Challenge &
RUNNER UP BEST OF BREED (13 entries)

Unfortunately no pointers went through for group (it seemed that our dogs coats were not long enough...lol) but it was great to catch up with Ashleigh & Kite and Charlie, Sue and the Rhyll crew.

Our hopes for the afternoon rested on Freya, and she came through for us again
Freya - Bitch Challenge & BEST OF BREED (6 entries)

So another enjoyable weekend away with our girls.

8th August - Nowra District Kennel Club

The start of a busy weekend for our team started off slow... after a long night of celebrations for James' Birthday... hence we missed the Sweepstakes, and only just made it in time for the Boxer judging...

Besides the shows, heading South gave us a great chance to catch up with two more of our Flyin Babies,
Abbey (Aspyre Come Fly With Me) and Ponto (Aspyre Flyin Ponto).

Both Abbey & Ponto (and their respective parents) made the journey to Harden to meet up with the rest of the Aspyre family.

Freya - 1st Puppy Bitch
Judge - Mrs E Tan Hietalahti - Finland

Freya made the most of her time in the ring enjoying every minute, bouncing around, acting a clown and enjoying the noise from the crowd cheering for the 'naughty one' to win

* Welcome to 2009 *

We have arrived home safe & sound after our jet setting wedding and honeymoon.

The wedding went to plan and was an absolutely beautiful December day (a rare occurance in Durban at that time of year). The venues were amazing! The food, dancing, music and of course the people all helped make it a day to remember.

The honeymoon was a trip we will never forget, both for the places we saw and for the friends we made.
We would like to thank everyone for all their love and best wishes and look forward to catching up very soon.

Hoping that 2009 is a great year for all.

Alicia & James Lumsden

That's So 2008!!

Aspyre had a very good year last year, both in and out of the showring.

We now have TWO 'New' Australian Champions

Aust Ch Sgurr Fly'n Mystical Charm (Imp NZ) - Lacey
Aust Ch Zipadedoda Made T Buzz - Buzzy

Lacey continued to do us proud, with some lovely wins under International and Specialist judges. She will only be lightly shown in 2009 to make way for some of our youngsters.

Buzz stepped out into the ring early in the year to earn his final points for his title. He is now semi retired and is the much loved companion of my mother.

Islayjoined us in February, and was lightly shown before taking time off from teh ring to mature. She is now doing us proud in Agility & Obedience with our great friend Kate.

Morgan came to us from Paul Robinson's Robwyn Pointers in NZ and made an immediate impact in the ring.
3 x Classes in SHOW
6 x Classes in Group
Including two IN SHOW wins at prestigious shows North of the Harbour & Dogs NSW Spring Fair both under International judging panels.

Freya was our last addition for the year and took us in a different direction, all the way to the Utility ring. She joins us from Lloyd Harrison's Valeska Boxers in NZ, and we look forward to enjoying her enthusiam for showing once again this year.
